| If your tree flowers but doesn't set fruit, it's probably not being pollinated. Since avocado trees flower in the winter, there may not be enough insect activity to pollinate the flowers. You might want to plant a companion avocado tree that produces flowers at the same time, just to increase the chances of pollination taking place. If the tree doesn't flower, it may not be getting all the sunshine and water it requires. Avocado trees do not need routine pruning, but you should remove dead or diseased limbs as soon as you notice them. The trees flower in winter and if you prune live branches off now, you may lose part of next season's crop. Prune immediately after harvest if you need to remove live, bearing wood.
