Which Flowers Bloom in Mid-May - Knowledgebase Question

My wife and I are expecting our first child this May, and I wanted to create a new flower bed for her. I am looking for a few flowers that I can plant now and will bloom around mid May. I have a West facing house that gets about 6-8 hours of sun a day.

What a wonderful tribute to your new baby! Perennials that bloom beginning in mid-May include: Sea Thrift; Black Eyed Susan; Swan River Daisy; Hemerocallis (daylily); corn flower; carnation; sweet William; gaura; gaillardia (blanket flower); rock rose; iris; Shasta daisy; rose campion; evening primrose; penstemmon; phlox; roses of all kinds; salvia; pincushion flower; verbena, and germander.
