Pittosporum needs little pruning except for removing dead and broken branches in the spring. Pittosporum crassifolium and P. tenuifolium are often grown as hedges, in which case they can be clipped periodically during the growing season for a formal look, or allowed to grow more informally.

Incidentally, the branches are long-lasting in floral arrangements.
