| Weed control methods, other than hand digging, depends upon the weed and the type of grass you are growing because not all herbicides are effective against all weeds and not all are safe to use on all turfgrasses. Your best bet is to dig some of the weeds plus some of your grass and take the sample to your local cooperative extension office or nursery. Ask helpful folks there to identify the weed and the type of turf you are growing. Once you know what you're working with you can find the right product that is safe to use on the lawn without harm.
