I would like to start a cut flower garden for personal use only. I've never tried anything like this before and have not a clue what would grow best in my area or how to get a variety of flowers and colors. |
Your choice of plants depends upon the garden site. Some flowers prefer full sunshine, some prefer shady conditons, and some will adapt to both sun and shade. Decide what conditions are most predominate in your garden and base your plant selection on that. For sunny areas, choose narcissus, daylilies, peonies, chrysanthemums, roses, gladiolus, dahlias and hydrangeas. For shady areas, consider begonias, pansies, browallia, campanula, cyclamen and saxifage. If you visit local nurseries, you find a virtual palette of colors, and new ideas, to include in your new garden spot. |
