how do i begin to plant a hollywood juniper? the dirt is kind of sandy do i get new top soil im new at gardening do i also need compost? |
If your soil is very sandy, the juniper will grow in it - and will like the sandy soil because it drains quickly. Junipers can develop root rot if the soil remains too wet for long periods of time. The only concern with sandy soil is that it doesn't hold nutrients for any length of time. If you remember to water regularly and feed every 4-6 weeks during the growing season, your juniper should be just fine. Enjoy! |
