How often do I need to water a newly planted Valencia Orange Tree. Its close too grass can it receive too much water? |
Citrus trees like ample moisture, as long as the area drains well. Overly wet soils can suffocate the roots. Water deeply once each week - unless your sprinklers keep the soil very wet. You can check by watering the lawn as usual and once a week digging down near the tree to see if the soil is moist 6" below the surface. If so, you won't need to water your tree separately from your lawn. If not, plan on watering your tree deeply once each week until it is several years old. Best wishes with your new tree! |
