Ants like peonies because of the nectarary at the base of each flower that produces a high-energy food for visiting insects. You can immerse each flower in a bucket of water as soon as you cut it from the plant and the ants will float to the surface of the water. Just hold it down in the water for 30 seconds, head first. Remove from the water and place the stem in a vase of water to take indoors.
