Over this winter a good half of the leaves on my gardenias have turned brown. Should I give them a hard pruning, or is there a better way to care for them?
Thank you.

A hard pruning in early spring will remove all the winter damage and encourage healthy new growth, all at the same time. Go ahead and prune. Your gardenia should respond with lots of healthy new growth and lots of flowers later in the season. Enjoy!
