The Q&A Archives: Gardening on a Balcony

Question: I would like to plant herbs, butterfly garden and some berries. How can I do this on a balcony space?

Answer: As long as you have lots of sunshine on your balcony, you can grow herbs, berries and flowers in containers. Choose large containers with lots of drainage holes on the bottom, fill them with potting soil and plant your favorite plants. Keep them watered (daily if necessary) and they should thrive on your balcony. Butterflies like large flowers so they can rest while they are feeding so plant lilac, dwarf butterfly bush, Shasta daisies, or anything else with lots of nectar. Best wishes with your new garden!
