The Q&A Archives: Plants for Low Light Terrarium

Question: I am making a terrarrium for a low light area.

Answer: Low light will restrict the number of plants you can use, but the following are suitable for containers and will grow in low light: Swedish ivy (Plectranthes australis) grows 1-3" and is very durable. Bird's Nest Sansevieria (Sansevieria trifasciata) grows 3-6" and will survive almost anywhere. Maidenhead spleenwort (Asplenium trichomanes) grows 1-3" and is tolerant of a wide variety of growing conditions.
