The Q&A Archives: Caring for Phlox Drummondii

Question: I'm interested in planting a lot of Phlox drummondii (pg. 7 of the '97 catalog) on a hillside. Will I need to deadhead them for continued blooming and are they perennials? Thank you. R. Cleaver Annapolis

Answer: Phlox drummondii are half-hardy annuals, so will not survive your winter. They are free flowering and shouldn't need deadheading. Enjoy!.
