Each year I use a spring fertilizer (scott's turf builder II) to feed & control weeds. I do this early spring, late spring, early summer, etc. By mid-summer the chickweed has started growing and has taken control of half of it by mid summer. How can I stop it. I also have what looks like weeds that have little violet flowers growing in some spots- how can I stop this weed.

There are very few herbicides that are effective against chickweed so don't blame your maintenance schedule for failing to control it. The best solution is to hand dig the plants as soon as they begin to appear and before they can flower and set seeds. Likewise with wild violets. Usual herbicides won't control them because they have bulbous storage organs that provide the energy necessary to resprout if the tops are regularly mowed down. Sadly, your only recourse is to hand dig these pesky weeds. Wish I had better new for you!
