How do I get rid of grass (not thick and healthy) in the 12x14 area I would like to grow a meadow? Can I spray with Roundup and then after (how long?) broadcast seed? Thank you

Glyphosate (Round-up) is a non-selective herbicide and will kill grasses as well as broadleaf weeds by systemic (going to roots) action. It has no residual dangers and binds to soil particles when it reaches the soil. It begins to breakdown almost immediately when coming into contact with soil microbes and will not "leach" into the water table or travel to other areas of the garden. I would wait 21 to 30 days after applying the herbicide before broadcasting the seeds. Best wishes with your meadow!
