| Sweet olive (Osmanthus fragrans) likes a spot where it will get good sun, but be shaded from the fierce sun during the hottest part of the day. If the soil is sufficiently moist, all-day sun is fine. They like adequately drained and reasonably fertile soil--no unusual requirements here. They require no regular pruning, though you can cut back any diseased or dead branches, or straggly growth. Sweet olives adapt well to container growing.
