Crabgrass starts to germinate when temperatures are 50F or over for 5-7 days in a row. Turfgrass seeds will germinate when soil temperatures are about 40F but they prefer warmer temperatures. The last frost date for your gardening region is somewhere between May 13 and May 28. With that in mind, you can begin overseeding your lawn by mid-May and the seeds should sprout in about 10 days. You can overseed as late as mid-June and still have a nice green lawn by mid-summer. Best wishes with your lawn!
