| I would like something to block sun about 110-12 ft tall. the area infront of a 9ft wide window, this gets the hot afternoon summer sun, someone suggested a jaimacan tree i don't recall the name. prefer something that would grow fast. thanks for your help john como |

They will be able to take the hot afternoon sunshine, along with reflected heat. Callicarpa americana (American beautyberry) is a shrub, 6-9 feet in height. It is characterized by its attractive foliage and clusters of flowers. Pinus clausa var. immuginata (Choctawhatchee sand pine) is a small tree, seldom more than 25 feet in height, the trunk 1 foot in diameter. Ptelea trifoliata (common hoptree), a large shrub, or sometimes a small tree, 20-25 feet in height, trunk 6-12 inches in diameter. It has a straight, slender trunk and a broad, rounded crown, with numerous short, stout, erect, and ascending branches. Cercis canadensis (eastern redbud), is usually a shrub or small tree, with a narrow, erect or spreading, flattened or rounded crown. Vaccinium arboreum (tree sparkleberry) is a small, bushy tree, sometimes reaching a height of 30 feet and the trunk a diameter of 10 inches. It is usually much smaller. It is characterized by a short, crooked bole, contorted branches, and a dense, round crown. Acer barbatum (Florida sugar maple) is also a good choice.
