| I try planting grass for Dense shade every Fall but they never seem to take so I have many bare spots. I water them in but by mid-summer they die off. What is the best grass to use and time of season to plant it here in NJ? |
| Fescue is the most shade tolerant grass, but even it has problems growing for more than a year or two. I'm afraid you will have to continue to reseed every spring if you want lawn in a densely shaded area. Or, how about growing a groundcover instead? Pachysandra is a deep green and grows in the shade. It is not as nice as grass, but it will be green and you won't have to replace it every spring. Wish I had more encouraging news for you! |
