I'm afraid lilacs won't grow well in Georgia. It's just too hot and sultry. There is a cultivar bred especially for warm summer, warm winter climates called Descanso hybrids. I don't know if they are readily available in your region but you might phone your local nurseries to see if they carry them. Wish I had better news for you!
