Cactus needs to be watered only once a month or so. If you apply water directly onto the plant and the flowers, the flower will die so if it's time to water, apply water only to the soil, not onto the plant. You can tell when a cactus needs water by looking at it. It will shrink a little in size and if it has ribs, the ribs will become closer together (like an accordian). As long as you keep the water off the opened flowers, your plant will be fine. Depending upon what type of cactus you are growing, the flowers may only last a day anyway, but it won't hurt to make an effort to keep the water off the flowers.
