| Roses never really go dormant in your gardening region so they are typically pruned back in December or January. (just for future reference) There is no reason you cannot cut the shrubs down to 12-18 inches then dig and transplant them. Now's the best time; fall would be your second opportunity. Be sure to prepare the planting holes before you dig the roses and take care to cover the roots with a dampened sheet or blanket during the move. You don't want the roots to dry out during transportation from your mom's place to yours. After transplanting, water them in well to help settle the soil. Good luck with the move. |
