| I love Hibiscus, however, every time I plant a plant on a pot in my balcony, it develops a white streak and eventually the leaves get white spots and the plant dies even though it keeps blooming all year. What should I do as soon as I bring the plant home from the nursery. Should I re-plant it in another pot. What kind of soil & fertilizer should I use. Should I spray it with something? |
| I'm not sure exactly what is going on with your hibiscus so I suggest that you start with fresh potting soil and a new or clean pot. Plant at the same soil level as your hibiscus was growing in the nursery pot and water it well to help settle the soil. Plants in containers dry out quickly in the heat and the roots can bake if the pot is exposed to strong sunlight. Try grouping pots together to shade one another, or place a decorative pot, rock, or other item in front of the pot to provide some shade. Feed your hibiscus a half-strength dilution of water soluable fertilizer (I use Miracle Gro) every 2-3 weeks. This nearly constant dose of fertilizer should keep the foliage healthy without the possibility of over feeding. Hope this helps! |
