I am getting ready to seed a new lawn and I would like to know what is the rate for a tall fescue lawn. My lawn will be aproximately 2500-3000 sq. ft. What is the latest time to plant it. Thank You |
You should plan to sow 6-10 pounds of tall fescue grass seed per 1,000 square feet. The best time to plant is just prior to the most vigorous growth season. Since tall fescue is a cool-season grass, it should be planted in late summer or early fall, because it grows best in the fall, winter and spring. Be sure to prepare the soil well before sowing the seed, and cover the seed with a topdressing to help keep it moist so it will germinate quickly. |
