| You should plan to sow 6-10 pounds of tall fescue grass seed per 1,000 square feet. The best time to plant is just prior to the most vigorous growth season. Since tall fescue is a cool-season grass, it should be planted in late summer or early fall, because it grows best in the fall, winter and spring.
