The Q&A Archives: Colorful summer plants

Question: I have 2 small areas 8ft x 8ft both sides of steps leading to the pool that I want to plant with easy to maintain small plants that will provide summer color. I'm in Atlanta and have watering restrictions. Any suggestions?

Answer: I'd go with plants tolerant of hot, dry locations. They will thrive under full sunshine with a minimal of watering:
Creeping Zinnia; Portulaca; Tithonia; Four-O'clock; Snow-on-the-Mountain; Verbena;
Kochia; Sunflower; and Vinca.
