What size of clay pot should I use to grow tomatoes? |
Most terra-cotta pots are taller than they are wide, which allows for good root formation. Use a pot that has a 12" inch rim, which should provide 14" to 16" inches of depth. Be sure to fill the container with potting soil, rather than regular garden soil. Potting soil is lighter, holds moisture, and drains faster than garden soil. Your tomatoes will benefit from full sunshine. When the weather gets hot, you may have to water every day, so watch your plants carefully. |
