We live in Galveston & was flooded during IKE. We need to fertilize the lawn yet are afraid of fertilizer with sodium fearing the 8 large oak trees would be damaged. Please advise.

A time release lawn fertilizer will slowly release NPK over a period of several weeks rather than providing a large dose all at once. Since it is released slowly, the grass roots will be able to use all of the fertilizer rather than having it run off or percolate too deeply into the soil. Best wishes with your lawn!
