How does one divide helleborus?

After your plant has finished flowering you can carefully dig and divide it to create new plants. I use two garden forks to lift the entire plant with as much of the root mass as possible, then cut it into divisions so that each new division has some green stems and some roots attached. The divisions can be a single stem or multiple stems, depending upon how large you want each new plant to be. Good luck with your helleborus!
