What do I need to put on the lawn this time of year to kill weeds?

There's no easy answer to your question. If the weeds have not yet popped up, you can use a pre-emergent herbicide; if the weeds are already up and growing, use a post-emergent herbicide. The type you apply will depend upon the type of grass you are growing because some warm season grasses (St. Augustine and Bermuda especially) are sensitive to certain herbicides. The best approach is to find both the types of weeds you want to eliminate and the type of turfgrass you are growing listed on the product label. Best wishes with your lawn.
