when do I put on the preemergent for my lawn. What is the best kind to use. I have 4 acres and a lot of clover, dandelions, and vetch on it that I would like to get rid of.

Pre-emergent is usually applied in February, before weeds sprout. If you already have weeds in your lawn, a post-emergent is what you need to apply. There are several brands on the market and the one you choose will depend upon the kind of turfgrass you are growing. Look for a product that lists your lawn type as safe, and lists the weeds you want to control as those targeted by the herbicide. Best wishes with your landscape!
