Even though we covered
our African Irises with burlap when temps fell below freezing - much of the growth is brown and very unsightly. Can I cut my plants like I do some of my ornamental grasses and allow it to grow back?

The roots of established African Irises are hardy and will resprout if the tops are nipped by frost. Go ahead and cut them back. You should see new growth when the weather warms and the plants recover. Enjoy!
