The Q&A Archives: Propagating Escallonia

Question: How do I propagate escallonia? Lynne Banks Ocean Shores, WA

Answer: Escallonia is propagated by taking 6" long cuttings from firm, but not hardwood taken in summer, dipped in a rooting hormone such as Dip N'Grow, and placed in a nursery bed or inside in pots with soiless potting soil and under clear plastic. Keep the foliage moist, but not wet and they should root by fall.
