I have a long driveway to the side of my house with a strip of grass between it and the driveway. There is a large area for planting at the end of the strip of grass, near the sidewalk, and space right next to the house. What can I plant in these areas? The spot near the sidewalk especially is designed to show off plants. I'm a total beginner! Help and thanks very much!!!

You're in luck! Penn State University has a website filled with pictures and growing conditions for plants especially suited to your growing region. Visit their webpage at http://franklin.extension.psu.... and I'm sure you will find more plants than you have room to grow. Enjoy your new garden!
