| I planted hyacinth bulbs and they bloomed beautifully. The flowers are gone, what do I do with the plants? Should I harvest the seeds? When do I take them out of the container and what do I do with them until I plant them again? Thanks! |
| Cut off the flowering stems and allow the foliage to die back on its own. You can then pull the old leaves off at soil level. You don't need to unpot and store them. Instead, just stop watering so the bulbs can rest. In the fall you can begin watering again and the bulbs will develop roots. In the early spring they will sprout new leaves and flowers. Although you can collect and plant the seeds, they will take years to grow into plants and form bulbs so I would just discard the seeds along with the spent flowers and flower stem. |
