weeds, weeds, weeds! - Knowledgebase Question

i have started a decent size english garden (40x40) 5 yrs ago and its such a hand full every spring with weeds. what can i use to stop the weeds but not harm the flowers & plants that are poppingout now. i have 2 dogs also so i need to make sure the chemicals will not be harmful to them.

Hand pulling is best, followed by a corn gluten based pre emergent such as Concern, applied in late winter or early spring before weeds begin to sprout.
