After removing the worm from the stems of your rhododendron, seal the opening with a dab of Elmer's Glue. This will keep additional borers from taking advantage of the opening in the stem.

If you're having problems with vine borers in your squash and cucumber plants, wrap a piece of aluminum foil around the base of each stem to keep the borers from entering the stems. Be sure to rotate your crops so any adults hiding in the soil won't be able to immediately attack your plants.
