The Q&A Archives: Cool weather planting

Question: Are chives, radishes, etc. considered cool weather plants? when are the best dates to plant flower seeds? I have received several for my zone, but dont know when to plant them?

Answer: May 2 is the average last frost date for your area. You can safely plant about 2 weeks after that last frost. Chives will grow in cool soils and cool air temperatures but radishes like things a little warmer. Plant the chives now but wait to plant the radishes in mid May.
