Our back yard is about 40 yrs. old. It has some updated plant material, pool, a grass area and a patio eating area. There are areas bordering the pool and grass that are just dirt. I need something that will grow and keep the dirt down, and off our dog's feet and out of the pool. It can bloom and I was thinking more of something that spreads/crawls. We have sun areas and some very shady areas. |
A few of our favorite ground covers include: Strawberry Begonia: A longtime favorite house plant, Strawberry Begonia has moved outdoors as a perennial ground cover. Its name is derived from the leaves, which emit runners resembling strawberries. Ajuga: This plant spreads quickly through its runners, creating a mat of dark green leaves that grow 2-3 inches wide in the full sun and 3-4 inches wide in the shade. Star Jasmine: Also known as Confederate Jasmine, this ground cover is an evergreen vine of rapid growth and low maintenance. Leadwort: Along with its beautiful reddish fall color, Leadwort produces sky blue flowers and is good in areas of full sun. Whichever ground cover you choose, it?s sure to reduce your labor and add a touch of style to your landscape. |
