| Wilting usually indicates root stress and it can be fatal. Gardenias like ample moisture but they also need soil that drains quickly. Dig down into the root system to check on the health of the roots. Soggy soil or an odor indicates root rot. Cut into the roots; healthy roots will be creamy white inside, dead or dying roots will be brown or rusty colored. If the roots look healthy, try feeding your plants with an acidified fertilizer (such as Miracid). They may also need a little iron sulfate to help them green up. Good luck with your gardenias! |
