my front porch faces west and can be breezy and hot late in the day in summer. It has an overhang that shades amd protects until afternoon. What annuals will not dry out with the warm breeze but also not require all day sunlight?

Most annuals are too tender for hot, windy locations, but you might try these sturdy plants: zinnias (Profusion and Crystals are excellent for containers), Salvia farinacea "Victoria", Scaevola, Gomphrena, melampodium, some of the low, bushy cosmos, pentas, marigolds and Vincas. You could also try portulaca, although the blooms tend to close up in the heat of the day. Small ornamental grasses are good choices as well. Hope these suggestions are helpful.
