Oak Trees - Knowledgebase Question

We have had 8 Oak trees die over the past season. They were healthy last year. What could be causing this? The bark on the trees starts to fall off and then they are dead.

I suspect a fungal disease - the peeling bark is a symptom of hypoxylon canker.
