Plant Identification - Knowledgebase Question

Last week, my landlord has given me a sprig of a shrub in his yard. It had small, very fragrant, yellow flowers and was fully leafed out. The leaves were about the size of the end of your thumb and resembled miniature

My guesses are:
Japanese cornelian cherry
Stachyurus praecox
Lindera benzoin (spice bush)

You might try visiting your local nurseries to find a similar plant, or taking a stem with leaves and flowers to your nursery for identification. Best wishes with your search!
