The Q&A Archives: Japanese Beetles

Question: Is there anything that will get rid of Japanese Beetles. They especially like one of my roses. I tried the traps last summer and I think they actually attracted them.

Answer: I tend to agree with you about the traps. They contain a pheromone (sexual attractant) and the traps seem to attract the pests from miles around! Japanese beetles can be controlled to some extent by hand picking, but in severe cases you might want to try a spray containing neem which acts as a repellent. Use according to the label instructions.
