Lily seeds can take from 30-365 days to germinate and require a period of warmth followed by a period of cold. You can put seeds in a screw top jar in moist (not wet) peat and keep at 70F to 75F degrees for 3-4 months. Inspect regularly and pick out the seedlings as they germinate. (Any seeds which produce both root and seedling leaves can be planted in potting soil.) Any seeds which produce roots but not seedling leaves should be refrigerated for 3 months. Seed leaves and normal growth should follow once they're taken out of the refrigerator and placed in normal household temperatures. Good luck with your new lilies! |
