The Q&A Archives: Podocarpus Hedge Fertilizer

Question: I have a 6 ft. tall podocarpus hedge. It has not been fertilized in over ten years. Which fertilizer should I use?

Answer: You can use any general purpose garden fertilizer for your podocarpus. The formulas are usually 10-10-10 or 20-20-20. Even though you have not specifically fed your hedge, it is probably getting nutrients from the soil and benefitting from whatever you feed your lawn if it is in close proximity to your turf. If your hedge is growing well, there's really no need to feed it.
