Technically, the straw flowers are real, but not a part of your new cactus. They come from a strawflower plant. I think they are set on top of the plants to show you how the plant will look when it is flowering. Cactus develop a row or crown of flowers each spring and they are very colorful and attractive. If you want your cactus to flower for you, give it lots of sunshine and very little water. As it matures it will flower for you every year. Enjoy!
