Regular monitoring of your garden plants will give you a heads up if any insect pests are trying to establish themselves. Walk through your garden on a daily basis. Turn over a few leaves to check for insects and visually inspect the stems of your plants. If you see insect pests, squish them on the spot or hose them off with a strong stream of water. Stressed and unhappy plants seem to be magnets for insect pests. Keep your plants well watered, keep weeds controlled and wander through your garden on a regular basis are the best pest preventative measures available - and the healthiest, too.
