HELLO I'M NEW I JUST STARTED MY YARD WORK WHAT I PUT DOWN WAS A COMBINATION CRABGRASS WEED PREVENTION WHEN AND WHAT SHOULD I PUT DOWN NEXT AND MY YARD IS SOD IT'S ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD NOW AND IT HAS SOME BARE SPOTS AND IT COULD GENERALLY LOOK BETTER WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST FOR THESE 2 PROBLEMS I WISH TO LEARN THANK YOU IN ADVANCE ........JOE |
You can rake the debris out of the bare spots and reseed them now, then put your lawn on a regular watering, feeding an mowing schedule to help it grow thick and lush, which will help prevent weed problems in the future. Water deeply once or twice each week depending upon weather and mow as often as necessary to keep the lawn at a 1 1/2 to 2 inch length. Feed in April, June, September and November with a 3-1-2 ratio of NPK (the 3 numbers on the fertilizer label). I have found that my local garden center has just the right formula of fertilizer on sale at just the right time to apply it so watch for sales. Best wishes with your lawn! |
