Weed control can seem like an overwhelming chore but if you start with one small part of your yard, eradicate the weeds and then move on to the next part of your yard, it will be easier to take control of the problem. The most efficient way to get rid of weeds is to hand pull them or dig them out roots and all. You can dig them with a shovel or rent a rototiller and then rake all the weed debris out of the soil. Or, you can smother the weeds by laying several thickness of newspapers or cardboard over them. Or you can use chemicals to destroy the weeds. But, not all weed killers will work on all kinds of weeds so you will need to have the weeds identified before you try using chemicals. Pull one of each of the different kinds of weeds you have, put them into plastic bags, then take them to your nursery or your local cooperative extension office to have them identified. Helpful folks there can suggest control rememdies. Best wishes with your landscape!
