We planted 3 types of squash plants and something came in and ate them up to barely a stem. We do not have bunnies and I don't see ants anywhere and the other plants that the insects are going after are my Herbs which are covered with a net. I have had problems in the past with snails but that is not the culprit. I haven't seen any grasshoppers either. HELP |
It sounds as though you have ruled out the usual culprits so I'm not sure what might be munching on your vegetable plants. Netting will keep out birds and four legged critters but won't always exclude crawling insects because they can be trapped under the netting or floating row covers. I'm not sure what to suggest! You will need to put on your detective cap and visit the garden several times a day (and also at night) to find the pests responsible for the damage. Once you know you can take steps to eliminate them through more efficient barriers or other means on control. Wish I had more options to share. |
