| I have recently bought some rabbits, and I was wondering if their droppings would make a good fertilizer. I also use wood chips in the bottom of the cages; would these be okay to put in the garden? Will these attract pests or is there any kind of disease associated with rabbit droppings that could be absorbed into the garden vegies? |
| The best thing to do would be to compost those droppings. Fresh rabbit manure is considered "hot", that is, it is high in nitrogen and if applied while fresh may damage tender roots. I would add the manure (along with the wood chips) to a compost pile, and used the finished compost on your garden. I am not aware of any diseases associated with this manure--in fact composted rabbit manure is highly prized as a fertilizer. So enjoy your bounty! |
